19-November-1838Keshab Chandra Sen (1838-84), nationalist leader of Bengal, was born in Calcutta. He was one of the first Indians to sow the seeds of secularism in the country. He joined the Brahmo Samaj in 1857 but seperated from it in 1866 and founded Brahma Samaj of India, a radical offshoot of the Adi Brahmo Samaj.
19-November-1877Jatindranath Benarjee, revolutionary of Indian freedom movement, was born.
19-November-1910Gohar alias Gohar A. Kayoum Mamajiwala was born at Lahore. She was a film actress. Her first film was 'Fortune & Fools' (1925). Other films were 'Lanka Ni Laadi', 'Handsome', 'Briefless Barrister', 'Thief of Delhi', 'Punjab Mail', 'My Darling' and 'The Web'.

  • १४९३ : क्रिस्टोफर कोलंबस आदल्या दिवशी पाहिलेल्या बेटावर उतरला व त्याचे नामकरण सान हुआन बॉतिस्ता (आता पोर्तो रिको) असे केले.
  • १८६३ : अमेरिकन यादवी युद्ध - अमेरिकेच्या राष्ट्राध्यक्ष अब्राहम लिंकनने गेटिसबर्गचे भाषण केले.
  • १९४१ : दुसरे महायुद्ध - एच.एम.एस. सिडनी आणि एच.एस.के. कॉर्मोरानमध्ये लढाई. दोन्ही युद्धनौका बुडाल्या, ऑस्ट्रेलियाचे ६४५ तर जर्मनीचे ७७ खलाशी मृत्युमुखी.
  • १९४२ : स्टालिनग्राडची लढाई - जनरल जॉर्जी झुकोव्हच्या नेतृत्त्वाखाली ऑपरेशन युरेनस ही मोहीम सुरू झाली.
