Dr. Rajendra Prasad’s Birthday and Lawyer’s day
Today is the birth date of Dr.Rajendra Prasad. Dr. Rajendra Prasad was the first President of India. He was Indian political leader and lawyer by training. He joined the Indian National Congress (INC) during the Indian independence movement and became a major leader. As a supporter of Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. Prasad was imprisoned by British authorities during the Salt Satyagraha and the Quit India movement. Prasad served as President of the INC from the year 1934 to 1935. After the 1946 elections, Prasad served as food and agriculture minister in the union government. After Independence in 15 August, 1947 Prasad was elected president of the Constituent Assembly of India.
As Dr.Prasad was a very eminent lawyer, the lawyer community celebrates his Birth anniversary as an Advocate’s Day.
